The Kannada Cinema industry in the year 2010 produced 137 films that is equivalent to the first 29 years of Kannada cinema from the beginning.

The films from 1934 March 3 ‘Sathi Sulochana’ to 1963 ‘Mana Mechchida Madadhi’ directed by Ku Ra Seetharama Shastri (starring Dr Rajakumar and Leelavathi) 137 films have been released. So 2010 year is equal to first 29 years of productions.

The misses are more than hits and it is as usual every year. As a matter of fact top earners of the year like ‘Aptha Rakshaka, Jackie, Pancharangi, Super, Krishnan Love Story, Eradane Madhuve, Prithvi, Porkhi, Veera Parampare, Jayahe, Appu Pappu earned over 120 crores is the calculation of the film economists.

25 films sailed through while 112 films failed! The biggest support in the year came from television industry. In fact the small screen that is bigger than big screen is still a helping hand. It is like ‘Chikkappa helping Doddappa’.

Another notable feat was remake films driven out by the audience. Only ‘Porkhi’ did well. Naanu Nanna Kanasu was notable remake did not fill the dreams of first director Prakash Raj.

Super Power Star Puneeth Rajakumar is undoubtedly the star of the year 2010 as his ‘Jackie’ broken records of his own films in the past. Power star Puneeth Rajakumar ‘Prithvi’ also did wonderful business.

The year 2010 heroine is Radhika Pandit, her performance in ‘Krishnan Love Story’, ‘Gaana Bajana’ was received well. She bagged the state award for her 2008-2009.

Three coconut heroines Nayanthara, Bhavana and Parvathi Menon gave notable performance.

Upendra, Soori and Yogaraj Bhat gets the cake walk in their profession. The music director of the year is undoubtedly V Harkrishna for Jackie and Super two top class films in the music front.

Dr Vishnuvardhana had one good one bad. ‘Aptha Rakshaka’ was silver jubilee but ‘School Master’ the students did not like. Ajay Rao only one release ‘Krishnan Love Story’ did well.

Among the local girls for Ramya it was one good and two flops. Just Math Mathalli and Kichcha Huchcha failed while ‘Jothegara’ got noticed. It was quite good for Aindrita Ray from ‘Veera Parampare’ but not from ‘Nannavanu’, ‘Nooru Janmaku’, Nidhi Subbaiah in ‘Pancharangi’ and ‘Krishna Nee Late Agi Baaro, Pranitha in Porkhi, Amoolya in ‘Premism’ and Naanu Nanna Kanasu, Ragini in ‘Shanker IPS, Holi and Gandedhe was good but in ‘Nayaka’ she went unnoticed, Biaenca Desai from Sanchari,

Diganth was in ‘Pancharangi’ ‘Swayamvara’ and ‘Bisili’, Vijay’s Kari Chirathe and Shanker IPS, Sudeep one hit Veera Parampare, two averages Kichcha Huchcha and Theertha and one flop film ‘Just Math Mathalli’ and Darshan one hit Porkhi and one flop Shourya. V Ravichandran initial of ‘Hoo’ was good but not of ‘Nariya Seere Kaddha’.

Hat trick hero Shivarajakumar ‘Mylari’ opening week is very good but Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu, Thamassu, Sugriva did not do well. Golden star Ganesh (Ullasa Utsaha, Eno Onthara), Sri Murali (Sri Harikathe, Sihigali), Chetan (Suryakanthi), Ramesh Aravind (Pritiyinda Ramesh, Shock, Krishna Nee Late Agi Baro, Hendthira Darbar, Crazy Kutumba), Prajwal Devaraj (Nannavanu) Yogish (Ravana, Punda, Yaksha), Srinagara Kitty (Mathe Mungaru, Swayamvara), Vijaya Raghavendra (Kiladi Krishna) Chiranjeevi Sarja from ‘Gandedhe and Chirru’,

The flop heroines of this year are – Pooja Gandhi (Minugu, Naa Rani Nee Maharani, Sri Harikathe) Yagna Shetty (Sugriva, Yagna Shetty) and Sharmila Mandre (Swayamvara, Kari Chirathe).
